Monique Mikula, OD
Dr. Mikula was born in eastern Colorado and graduated from high school in Custer County, Westcliffe, Colorado. She earned her bachelor degree in biology at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1989. Dr. Mikula earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA. in 1994. During her last year in optometry school some of her externships included the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado which was primary care practice setting that included the use of therapeutics, contact lenses, vision therapy and low vision, the Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica, California which specialized in low vision rehabilitation, and the private practice of Drs. Donald Getz and Gary Etting in Van Nuys, CA. which specialized in behavioral vision care with extensive therapy training, designing and implementing vision efficiency, vision perception, strabismus, and amblyopia programs with children and adults.
In 1994, Dr. Mikula entered private practice in Greeley, Loveland, and Ft. Collins, offering comprehensive family vision care, hard to fit contact lens services, pediatric and vision therapy for children and adults for vision related learning problems, strabismus, amblyopia and vision rehabilitation from head and brain injury. She purchased the Greeley practice in 1997. She is a member of the American Optometric Assn., Colorado Optometric Assn., Optometric Extension Program (OEP), and an Associate member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD).
Outside the office, Dr. Mikula likes spending lots of family time with her husband, Marek, and son, Blake, gardening, playing the piano, singing, bicycling, rollerblading, and hiking in the mountains when time allows.
